Summer Dance Festival
New Starting 2011—"Art and All That Jazz"
In furtherance of Twin Cities Ballet's goal to enhance and support the art of dance in our community, every year since 2004 it has organized, sponsored and brought together a variety of local dance groups, students and professional dancers to participate in an original program called Twin Cities Summer Dance Festival —the first such event in the south metro. In 2011 TCB decided to take the mission and goals of the Festival in an exciting new direction, and initiated and organized a different performance event.
New for 2011: Twin Cities Ballet and Ballet Royale Minnesota traded in their
pointe shoes and Jazzed it up at Burnsville’s “Art and All That Jazz” Festival, in collaboration with Alesso’s Dance Spectrum. This is the first time the Festival has included dance performances!
These free performances featured a sampling of Traditional, Contemporary and
Broadway
style Jazz Dance numbers. Hundreds of people enjoyed seeing the talent and versatility of well trained dancers. Great job dancers!
TCB's Summer Festival productions are collaborative programs that provide area students, schools and dancers (mostly student dancers, with some guest professionals) with the opportunity to perform and share the art of dance, in a cooperative and non-competitive environment. A typical program includes groups from not only the south metro, but also from Minneapolis, St. Paul, and other Twin Cities metro areas.
